Hi Christy,
I don't quite understand but I did open the DBF file in excel and do I save it as an excel file then link it to Access? If so, how will the information refresh from the DBF file to excel? Would I have to go on opening the DBF file in excel and salvage it in excel?

This was info you lot left out from your original mail service. Since the dbf format is not greatly used anymore, I think Christy fabricated the assumption (as did I) that this was a i time import. If the dbf file will continue to be updated, then you lot volition need to link it to the Access app. This might hateful yous need to find the FPT file that contains the formatting.

The FPT file is located in the same folder as the DBF file. What do I exercise from there?

Adding to the points above you could use a tertiary party tool that volition read the .dbf and output it in a format that is readable.
Based on my personal experience (I have developed a dbf reader migration tool) ...dbf while is an easy format it does has its quirks mainly due to font/codepage substitutions we used back in the good old days of MS-DOS

The thought is to salve the data from a spreadsheet, but using dbf. extension.
Delight read the instruction on the suggested folio very well, for how to import and save dbf file in spreadsheet.
Choose File - Relieve Equally.
In the File format box, select "dBASE file".
In the File proper name box, type a name( preferably a new name) for the dBASE file.
Click Save.
Later this is done, attempt to open this new saved file in Access, and see if information technology volition work.
